Today was a beautiful day. Waking up, I had no idea that in a few short hours, I would about to be given an opportunity that I have previously only dream of.
Today I was offered an opportunity to intern for a major news station during the course of my Spring Semester here in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Three weeks ago I had gone on an interview dressed to impress, of course, thinking to myself it’s worth a shot. I am a very confident person, however, I have never interviewed for a major corporation before, therefore my nerves were in full force. However, I thought to myself, just be you, and if it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be.
Well, with the odds being forever in my favor, I was offered the opportunity. I was beyond ecstatic! I still am. But I am also scared. But after thinking about it, that’s okay.
New beginnings are supposed to be exciting and scary. That’s what makes them so exciting. Embarking on this new journey will help me grow as a person, which in the end, will make me a better person. Which is why my advice today will be this:
Go for it
If you are ever presented with an opportunity to take on a new challenge, start a new job, move to a foreign place, take it. New beginnings are what makes life so amazing. Taking chances and going outside your comfort zone will help you grow as an individual and no matter what will benefit you in the end.
So, here’s to new beginnings.
Trust me, it’s not as scary as you think.
