Though it was partly cloudy and rained on and off, today was still an exciting day at the BB&T Ballpark. I was lucky enough to be given some tickets to go see the game today: with the Charlotte Knights playing the Gwinnett Braves. It was a treat, being able to not only watch the game but even see the park for the first time! I know, I’ve lived in Charlotte for about four years now, and I’ve never even been to a Knights game…But I went baseball hat and all and was ready to enjoy the game. (Though I must admit I looked like Hillary Duff in that movie Cinderella Story)
The Ball Game
The park to say the least, if you’ve never been, is stunning. It’s only a few years old, so it’s got a very modern, yet wholesome touch. Even though the clouds filled the skyline, the view of the city was still glamorous, to say the least. I’m not sure what it is, but something about skyscrapers and tall buildings just gets me. I guess that’s why I’m so obsessed with Manhattan.
Anyway, I dragged along my partner in crime again, though he didn’t mind. Though I’m not particularly a big baseball fan either, though my dad was a pitcher and I played a good amount of T-Ball in my days, I still had a good old time enjoying America’s favorite pastime. I’d have to say one of my favorite parts of the game was what happens when one of the Charlotte players hits a home run. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a picture of it, but smoke emerged from the dragon’s nostrils by the scoreboard, making the crowd go wild. It’s something I wasn’t expecting but by far a great touch.
The Charlotte Knights
I was able to get a free baseball too (He caught it) and some of that weird but delicious Dip n’ Dot ice cream that I love. I opted out of the collectible baseball cap bowl, but catching the ball was nostalgic enough. In the end, however, our home team ended up losing the game. Those Gwinnett Braves were just too good today. Overall, I think it was a perfect event to experience right before the 4th, and ly recommend going at least once in your life! I mean I even got to sing ‘TMe Out to the Ballgame’ with a bunch of strangers…who wouldn’t love that American pride?!
With Love,
