This past weekend I was able to take a step into the 16th century and experience the Carolina Renaissance Festival. Let me start by saying Huzzah! For only a 24-dollar entry fee, you can travel back in time to the greatest Fair-haven of them all. That’s right Carolina, it’s that time of year again when you can enjoy huge turkey legs, dress up like you are a part of the cast of Game of Thrones, and casually watch jousting knights all in one day.
Even though it was super crowded when we arrived, the festival grounds are so large you can barely tell once you are inside the enchanted gates. Filled with non-stop, day-long entertainment, arts and crafts, games and rides, feasting and so much more! I and two friends attended the event this past weekend (During Beerfest may I add) and had a jolly good time. We started with some food, bread bowls were our dish of choice, and of course a beer. Though the lines are a bit long (inevitable) it’s completely worth it. We indulged in our feast while watching Knight Joust. Unfortunately, we were unable to obtain a seat for the show because of the crowd, but we were able to watch from a distance. Which was just as good. Then after watching the first half, we made our way to the free petting zoo for a visit.
I love animals so this was my favorite part. You also have the option to purchase feed for the animals which I was quite happy doing too. We then made our way to the shops and people-watching (there’s a ton) and finished our day with some roasted almonds which I am currently eating as we speak. Overall, it was a fantastic day. I love good time travel to the greatest party since Camelot. Huzzah!
With Love,
Lex Paige
