Going to the gym has never been my thing. I guess it’s because treadmills and medicine balls tend to scare me (strange I know) but going to the gym was never my thing. And though I won’t lie and I have been to my fair share of fitness center workouts, I wasn’t ever fully satisfied with the exercise I was getting.
So, when a friend told me about AIR® Aerial Fitness, I was very interested in what the class had to offer and eager to try something new. As I had heard very little of aerial fitness, I was both a little nervous and intrigued as to what to expect from attending the class. For those of you who aren’t familiar with what AIR® is, to put it in simple terms, it is an intense aerial fitness training program resulting in long lean muscle in record-breaking time. AIR® offers you a unique type of workout that makes you feel incredibly great.

I’m just going to straight-up tell you, I got all tangled up in that silk rope and I was hooked, but don’t worry I’ll tell you how. For my first AIR® class, I took the AIR® Foundation fitness class. This 50-minute workout class provided me with the fundamentals of aerial fitness and taught me the essentials of AIR®. I arrived 15 minutes early to get settled in and all I brought with me to the class was a water bottle and well, myself. As my welcome email recommended, I wore tight-fitting clothing so nothing would get caught during my workout and what’s additionally awesome about taking an AIR® class, is that you are barefoot and weights and mats are both provided.
Now I’m not going to lie, the AIR® Foundation was no walk in the park. As I am writing this the day after my experience, my body is feeling a little sore today. When they say intense workout, they mean it. But what I loved about this class was how I was able to get a solid upper body and lower body workout and have fun while doing it.
The instructor was super helpful, and everyone was extremely welcoming in the class, in return, I pushed myself to try harder and push through some of the difficult exercises sets as much as possible. By utilizing doctrines of ballet barre, Pilates, and yoga all tied into one with the use of silk hammocks, this AIR® Foundation class was the holy grail of fitness experiences. This was the first time I felt out of my element while still being in it. (If that makes sense)
