I Killed the Prom Queen

If you like metal, you will love the Australian metalcore band I Killed the Prom Queen. Formed back in the 2000s, the band is currently on tour with The Vans Warped Tour, playing on the Monster Energy Stage. After many ups and downs, going through different singers and such, the band showed their original sound and style on stage this past week, making the crowd go wild. With their combination of vocals and screamo; this band is certainly impressive: which is why I’m glad they are back and hopefully here to stay!

I scarily like screaming music from time to time, which is what most ignorant people call this type of music, so watching them was a fun change. A lot of people don’t think it takes talent to scream, but let me tell you what…it fucking does. I’ve tried many times to scream, and though my brother would tell you (Since I always practice my screamo voice with him in the car) that I’m pretty good for a female screamer, it kills your vocal cords and throat. If you don’t have the right technique, you can mess up your voice.

One of the things that stand out to me when I watch this band perform, is the moshing. If you are not familiar with the term, mosh means to dance violently by jumping up and down and deliberately colliding with other dancers to rock music. It is madness; a very appealing to the eye type of madness. I don’t think I would ever try to do it, because not only am I scared but also little, but being able to see all the guys throw their arms and run into each other, is rather entertaining. I must say, I give whoever attempts to mosh mad credit, because even though I didn’t do any moshing myself, watching the other people do it was tiring enough. They mentioned how they love watching fans go, ‘fucking-crazy while in the mosh pit.”

Overall, it was a very successful set and viewing experience.

With Love,

Lex Paige
