If you have trouble breathing, want some relaxation, or need to give your skin some TLC, then I suggest you try out a salt room. What’s a salt room you ask? Well, thanks to our friends at The Salt Pad in Charlotte, NC I was able to find out!
What is The Salt Pad?
The Salt Pad is Charlotte’s premier Salt Therapy Spa for asthma, allergies, COPD, sinusitis, eczema, and psoriasis. Located at 1600 E Woodlawn Rd #310 in Charlotte, The Salt Pad is an establishment that offers salt therapy (traditionally known as halotherapy) which is a natural and drug-free method of relief for respiratory ailments and minor skin conditions. The Salt Pad is a therapeutic and 100% natural, drug-free, and non-invasive treatment.
My Experience
I recently tried out an Adult Salt Therapy session which provided a relaxing and unusual experience. When I arrived at The Salt Pad, I was greeted by friendly staff and shown around the small facility which felt welcoming and calmed my nerves. I was then shown to the locker area where I put my shoes and other belongings and made my way to the adult salt therapy room.
With the floors covered in Himalayan salt and walls lined with heated salt lamps, I was a little taken aback by the environment. I took a seat in one of the room’s zero-gravity lounge chairs along with two other women who were experiencing the session for the first time as well. We were then introduced to the room’s purpose and told that microparticles of salt were going to be dispersed throughout the room, while listening to tranquil music, creating a relaxing and rejuvenating environment. So, I then sat back, relaxed, and breathed in the salty air for the next 45 minutes.
Experiencing a salt room is something I think everyone should try at least once. I truly did feel so relaxed after the session, however, personally, I did not feel much difference in my breathing or skin. While we were sitting in the room, I could taste the salt in the air and I certainly felt healthier too. I think to help with those conditions, this therapy would need to be done more than just one time. The Salt Pad also offers Children’s Salt Therapy and Acupuncture to share in more of the benefits salt rooms have to offer. You can schedule your appointment in a matter of seconds online and be sure to leave a review of your salt room experience below after you go!
