It’s that time of the year again! Yes, it’s the Carolina Renaissance Festival! This past weekend I was able to take a step into the 16th century and experience the 2018 Carolina Renaissance Festival. Full of delicious foods, entertainment galore, and this year MERMAIDS; for only a 25-dollar entry fee, you can travel back in time to the greatest Fair-haven of them all.
For the second year in a row, my partner and crime, and I visited the fair. This year, I wanted to get in the festival spirit and decided to wear my flower crown. This time around, it was quite packed, but we still had fun. To be frank, we lucked out and got some prime parking in front (after waiting in 45 minutes of traffic) but it was worth it.

When we arrived we were beyond hungry. So we feasted like kings with sausages on a stick, a turkey leg, and of course some beer! We grabbed a seat at the maiden show in the back and finished our meal while also admiring the wonderful costumes and people-watching. I recommend trying out one of the options above or a bread bowl. I’ve had them before at the festival and they are filling and delicious.
After, we made our way to my favorite part, the petting zoo! I LOVE ANIMALS! Right next door to the knight’s arena is the free petting zoo filled with friendly animals galore! Baby pigs, cows, llamas, and goats; you also have the option to purchase feed for the animals. However, this year the goats seemed to love my hair more than me. (See below)
To finish up our day we walked around the fairgrounds visited the mermaids, and shops, and bought some sweet candy apples. We ended the day watching a belly dancing show (WITH FIRE) and laughing our butts off at the tomato guys and their ruthless insults. I highly suggest stopping by the booth in the back, maybe even taking your shot at tomato throwing if you are not easily offended, but it is a great belly laugh.
Overall, it was a fun-filled day. With handmade crafts, tons of games, rides, feasting and so much more; you don’t want to miss the Carolina Renaissance Festival. The festival is open on Saturdays and Sundays and is located at 16445 Poplar Tent Rd Huntersville, NC, 28078. The festival is open until November 18th, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Parking is free and is open rain or shine. Please leave the furry babies at home. Huzzah! Click here for more information.
