I am an avid nature lover. If you give me the option to sit inside or to take an outdoor adventure, you best believe I’ll have my hammock in hand and be out the door before you know it.
For those of you who are like me and live in Charlotte, you know we get the best of both worlds. We have city life on the one hand, and on the other, we can still enjoy the outdoors. However, you may not realize this, but much of our natural environment is depleting as our community expands. This is why Trees Bees and All of These are helping take the first steps to help spark change in the QC.
So what is Tree’s Bees and All of These?
Trees, Bees and All of These is a nonprofit organization based in Charlotte, North Carolina, to show how developer expansion is destroying the natural environment. As stated on their website, “We are a Group that Gathers as needed, to be heard & seen on behalf of Mother Nature as issues arise. We coalesce a group that is ready for mobilization to Show Up & Speak Up to address current local environmental concerns as they come to the top of the list.” Simply put, they are an organization helping to keep Charlotte’s natural environment alive and thriving, which I support and love.
Some of my favorite nature spots in Charlotte include McDowell Nature Preserve, Reedy Creek Nature Center & Nature Preserve, and the RibbonWalk Nature Preserve. When the weather is nice, I visit these locations often and either hike, hammock or just take a leisurely walk to escape from city life. I can’t imagine these places being taken away from me, but the harsh reality is, that if we all don’t join together to take action, they just might go away.
Something very exciting that is recently happening with Trees’ Bees and All of These is the launch of their new nature walk series starting April 7th, 2019. This is a great new way to discover the natural beauty of Charlotte. Joining one of these events will allow you to experience and appreciate the natural wonders of Charlotte in a whole new way. In addition to an educational walk, participants will also collect edibles in the woods, which will be cooked after eating. The first event will be hosted from 12-3 pm on April 7th, 2019 and you can find out more on the event series and ticket purchasing here.
I can’t say this enough, but keeping our Earth beautiful is a vital part of our existence. We can all make a difference to keep Charlotte’s green spaces thriving, we just need to help educate one another. I love living in a city that has the best of both worlds, so let’s try to keep it that way.
