My 26th Birthday Weekend Trip to Charleston

My 26th Birthday Weekend Trip to Charleston

My significant other and I decided this year to head to Charleston, South Carolina for my birthday weekend. Let’s just start by saying, my 26th birthday was salty, sandy, and full of delight!

Charleston, South Carolina

We stayed at the Historic Eliot House Inn, located on Queen Street in the heart of Charleston. We stayed on the top floor in a corner room with a King Bed. It was romantic, historically rich, and extremely noisy. (Ha!) We made a joke of it, but the air conditioner in our room was painfully loud and sounded like a wave machine. My boyfriend said it was the worst sleep in two days he has ever “gotten.” I did very much enjoy the friendly service and complimentary breakfast served daily to our room. They even gave us a bottle of wine in the house. The hotel was near everything we wanted to visit (minus the beach) so there were short walks to everything.

During our stay, we did two ghost tours. Both were hosted by Bulldog Tours which seems to be the best in town. On our first night we did the 9 pm Charleston Ghost & Dungeon Walking Tour and on Sunday night we did the 10 pm Haunted Jail Walking Tour in Charleston. They both were great. My favorite was the Charleston Jail tour which was also featured on Ghost Hunters, Ghost Adventures, and The Travel Channel. It is home to over 14,000 deaths throughout the 19th century. #Spooky

For dinner, we ate at Tommy Condon’s Irish Pub (which was delicious) and Poogan’s Smokehouse. Both places are worth a try and Tommy Condon offers some seafood options as well. We also stopped by the candy store off Market Street for some sweet treats. It’s called Savannah’s Candy Kitchen of Charleston and I highly recommend getting a candy apple and some chocolate-covered Oreos during your visit.

When visiting the Charleston area, we 100% had to do a beach day. I love the ocean (it’s my home away from home) and reminds me of where I grew up. Thank the high heavens the weather was gorgeous and we spent all of Sunday at Folly Beach. This area is perfect if you want to experience the beach and a seaside town. We also hit up Sullivan’s Island beach on Monday for an hour before we headed home, however, this area is a bit more lowkey and less commercialized.

Overall, I had such a great time in the historic town of Charleston for my 26th birthday. I can’t thank my love, Ethan, enough for helping me plan this fun trip and spending time with me. You can see a full gallery of photos from my trip below and be sure to let me know if you had your own Charleston adventure!
