Non-Profit Partners with Atrium Animal Hospital for a Pesticide Disposal Program

One of my favorite non-profits Trees Bees & All of These is partnering with Atrium Animal Hospital to bring awareness to the harmful effects of pesticides and create a safe way to dispose of these household chemicals with the Pesticide Disposal Program.

Starting from July 1st to August 31st, you can drop off your pesticides at the Hospital located at 6520 McMahon Drive, Charlotte, NC 28226. Drop off will take place Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 7:30 am-6 pm, Tuesday from 7:30 am-7: 30 pm, Thursday from 7:30 am-1 pm and then again from 3 pm-7: 30 pm, and lastly Saturday from 8:30 am-1 pm.

By a total coincidence, Atrium Animal Hospital is my pet rabbit Theodore’s veterinarian. Since Theodore is a rabbit, he eats a ton of greens. (A lot of which I purchase locally grown) And unfortunately, we all know many farms use pesticides. Well, pesticides are extremely harmful to him and can make him sick. With this new Pesticide Disposal Program, Trees Bees & All of These and Atrium Animal Hospital is bringing awareness to the harmful impacts of pesticides on not only the environment but pets as well.

Trees Bees & All of These Founder Kim Hombs explains, “As a Veterinarian, we are seeing increased health issues among pets due to exposure to pesticides. We are running this campaign with two goals in mind: preservation of the earth, and safety for our beloved pets. We encourage everyone to find organic methods to care for their lawn.” The pesticide chemicals need to be disposed of properly to aid in minimizing the harmful effects on the earth and our pets.

With the Pesticide Disposal Program, Trees Bees & All of These and Atrium Animal Hospital are both making it easy for not only the planet but also our furry family members. With the rampant use of pesticides, herbicides, and insecticides in Charlotte, sadly it is causing an alarming decrease in our insect populations that are essential for the survival of birds and other species and decimating our pollinator population. We must aim to save our green spaces and halt our use of pesticides herbicides and GMOs for the health and sustainability of our lives and our planet. We can all aid in making change possible here in the Queen City and participating in the Pesticide Disposal Program can be your first step.

Be sure to follow Trees, Bees, and All of These on Facebook by clicking here! You can join the movement and find out even more about how to save the planet HERE. P.S. You can check out my previous blog post on the organization here. One thing to note, the office is closed on Sundays, so remember to mark down the times above. Truly, I love our Earth and can’t stress to you all enough how important it is to help keep Charlotte’s green spaces thriving. Please join in to make a difference.
