Those who live near Whistler or travel here often can tell you about the exquisite beauty of this town. If you’ve been to this area, it’s likely been to ski and Whistler is home to some of the best skiing in all of Canada, if not the whole world. However, there are many other great experiences in this area for those looking to get in touch with nature off the slopes.

Here are a few amazing hikes for any nature lover in the Whistler area. If you’re not from Whistler, there’s also an abundance of great real estate for sale in Whistler for those looking to enjoy this beautiful area all year long.

Garibaldi Lake

Just south of Whistler is Garibaldi Lake. Here, you can enjoy one of the most beautiful aquatic destinations in all of British Columbia. From the gorgeous color of the turquoise lake to the stunning sight of the snow-capped mountains, this hiking destination has something beautiful for everyone to enjoy.

The entire trail at Garibaldi Lake should take the average hiker around six hours to complete and is full of breathtaking stops along the way, such as “the Barrier,” which is a lava dam. If you’re looking for a place to camp for the weekend, you can certainly do that here and continue exploring the great nature the area has to offer. Black Tusk Mountain is just a short walk away from the main lake trail and will provide a more difficult experience for hikers looking for a challenge.

Ancient Cedars

The Ancient Cedars Trail, north of Whistler, is much shorter than the former, clocking in at about a two-hour journey. It’s an easier hike and a great place to start if you’re a beginner. The trail is well-maintained and involves simple terrain to conquer, but the foliage and mountain views are just as gorgeous as any hike on this list. It’s also much quieter than some of the more popular destinations for hiking near Whistler. If you’re traveling through the area with children, this is also the perfect spot for a family picnic!

High Note Trail

If you’re looking for an aerial view of Whistler and the surrounding areas, take the gondola up to the High Note Trail at the very tip of Whistler Mountain. It is probably the most scenic view you’ll ever catch with your own two eyes. See the sparkling blue Cheakamus Lake from above and spot the aforementioned Black Tusk Mountain (it’ll be pretty easy to recognize).

This trial is about an intermediate level, so it may be best to leave the kids at home for this one. Even though some of the trails are downhill, the pitch of the trail can make the descent a bit tricky. Have fun traveling and for more information check it out here.
