As we age, we sometimes forget to exercise our brains. Taking care of our minds is just as important as taking care of our bodies. I exercise my mind by playing online games. Video games sometimes get a bad rap. When I was younger, I heard adults say they would “rot your brain” but it’s the opposite. As people play online games, they develop complex problem-solving skills, leadership skills, and the ability to handle unexpected consequences. Additionally, they improve your observation skills, intuitive abilities, as well your alertness, and concentration.
The Games
I enjoy playing video games, especially online ones. You probably already know about Solitaire.org if you enjoy Solitaire games. I was pleased to find them online and see that they also offer other collections of games such as puzzle games, word games, and hidden object games. I was in the market for some free games that would keep my mind happy and give my brain some exercise. I wanted to start playing something easy first, which is how I found their ‘I Spy’ style games. Since I love hidden object games, I decided to check them out. The site offers eight different game options. You can see them all at the top in the header bar. I chose the castle one to start. Some of the numbers were harder to find (they were hidden in the trees), but it helps with eyesight and keeps your mind engaged. Other hidden object games included Garden and Circus. The Garden was my favorite. They had multiple levels, currently, I am on level 4 of my Garden game.
Solitare For Your Mind
Next, I took the online gaming fun to a new level and turned it into a date night. I spent an hour with my significant other learning how to play Spider solitaire, Crazy Eights, and Mahjong online. Spider solitaire is a lot of fun. One of the best parts of this game is that it can be played completely full-screen and no download is needed. It takes some practice, but after two or three plays, I was finally getting the hang of it. Even playing Crazy Eights against the computers, we ended up winning. I had a good time playing this, but I need more training.
Matching games are my thing. This classic Chinese game of strategy, skill, and summation is fun and enormously popular. On the site they also offer Mahjong. I am obsessed with this game. I used to play it a lot in person with my family. They have a really cute animal game too. In addition to improving my strategic thinking, I enjoyed watching the cute critters in this game.
Solitaire.org is one of the best places online to have fun and relieve some stress. I love how it does not require registration, you just hop on the website, pick a game, and get to playing.
