If you’ve never been to Kersey Valley Spooky Woods, you are truly missing out. This haunt has been consistently rated as one of the top Halloween attractions in North Carolina, and it’s easy to see why. For 2024, they’ve introduced a variety of new sets and characters that are as horrifying as they are creative. The fact that Kersey Valley constantly updates their sets ensures that even if you’ve been before, there’s always something new to discover.
When we entered the midway, we were greeted by some frightening characters. After a good jump scare and a ghoul trying to play with my hair, we grabbed some snacks. I highly recommend getting some donuts and trying out their new coffee station. The pumpkin spice flavor was so good. We also had to get a photo with my favorite witch, Endora, as she waited for the children to stop by her cauldron.
After that, we headed to the line to enter the attraction. We had immediate access passes for the event so there was no wait. I highly recommend splurging for some of these passes or VIP tickets so you can avoid waiting. If you don’t mind waiting, they do have general admission. The staff aims to minimize the wait time and provides entertainment with a lively DJ and giveaways during the wait.

The Haunts and More
We were all screaming the entire time, from the first haunted house to the last. As we walked through the woods and wound our way through various themed zones, we encountered spine-tingling moments and heart-pounding scares. One of the highlights of the night was the ICONS section, featuring our favorite horror movie stars and classic cult classics. Every slasher from Freddy to Jason was in this area of the haunt, and the sets were incredible. You even get to ride a tractor to this section which comes with additional surprises. Once we got to ICONS, I don’t think I stopped screaming during the walk or rather run-through. The graveyard section was also terrifying and a favorite of mine. I won’t spoil it all for you, but just know you may not be able to sleep when you get home from all the adrenaline-filled scares!
Final Thoughts
Visiting Spooky Woods was an unforgettable experience for me. It’s my third time going, and I feel like the place is my spooky family. What makes Kersey Valley special isn’t just the scares—it’s the attention to detail and care put into every part of the production. The sets are of movie quality, and the lighting, sound effects, and fog machines work together to create an immersive environment that draws you right into the story.
A few tips for your visit, no vaping or smoking is allowed, so leave them in the car. Parking is $10 cash only, so make sure to bring cash before you go. I also recommend arriving as early as possible to avoid long lines. Also, wear comfortable shoes. You’ll be walking through woods and uneven terrain, so make sure to wear sturdy shoes and comfortable clothes. The actors at Spooky Woods are masters at sneaking up on you, so keep your wits about you and expect the unexpected!
